Various Tax Strategies

Consider the $5 million estate and lifetime giving tax exemptions.
Before you die, you can give up to $5 million to any individual, including your grandchildren or charity without paying taxes on the money. For couples, it’s $10 million. Keep in mind that it is not always worth the risk to give money too soon to someone, even if there is a chance this will disappear next year. You can always leave family values, faith and work ethic to your heirs.
Channel estate transfers through family limited partnerships. (See a lawyer to discuss this tip!)
Open a donor advised fund.
A donor advised fund allows you to contribute any amount to a charity, without having to name the charity right away. Once the money is in the fund, the IRS considers it gifted.
Use highly appreciated stocks for charitable giving. You will avoid paying capital gains on this asset.
